Political: Puerto Rico is a self-governing unincorporated territory of the United States located in the northeastern Caribbean, east of the Dominican Republic and west of the Virgin Islands. Weather: Located in the tropics, Puerto Rico enjoys an average temperature of 82.4 °F (30 °C) throughout the year. Temperatures do not change drastically throughout the seasons.
Winds and Waves:
- From December to April : on average 12-17 knots, with days blowing in the 25 knts. Waves almost everyday from waist high to double over head. Sunny with night rain showers. Winds picks up around 10-11am and drops around 4 or 5pm.
- February is one of the windiest month of the winter
- From April to August: on average 15-20 knots, with days in the 25 knts. Usually pretty flat; waves if any are small: knee to waist high.
Entry:
No U.S. Passport Required for US citizens:
For travel between Puerto Rico and the U.S., no passport is required, making it easier for travelers who don't have a passport and will not have to encounter long waits at customs and immigration.
For International Visitors: Citizens of other countries have the same requirements as for entering the USA.
Airport:
Most U.S. and many international airlines offer direct flights to Puerto Rico, and making connecting flights is easy. Puerto Rico has several airport but, Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (SJU), is the main airport of the island. Located in Carolina, about a few minutes from San Juan, it is also one of the largest airports in the Caribbean and a popular place for hopping over to the U.S. Virgin Islands and other Caribbean destinations.

Punta las Marias Beach, is located in San Juan, between Ocean Park Beach and Isla Verde Beach. Please check Google map for more detail.
Directions from Airport (Coming from East and/or Isla Verde):
- Stay in the right lane as you exit the airport and follow the signs that say San Juan, Carolina. Stay on the right lane. Exit at Puntas Las Marias (YOU WILL SEE A SIGN).
- Go straight until the main road, and take a left. Keep driving in Isla Verde Avenue. The road splits, stay on your right and keep driving until you get to a stop sign: take a right into Guerrero Noble street.
- Park on that street, and keep walking towards the end (there are windmills and a park and
you will find the beach.
- Once you are on the beach (looking towards the water), we will be at the end of the beach to your right.
Directions from Old San Juan (or coming from West and/or Condado)
- Stay on the road that parallels the beach ( Ashford/ Mcleary St ) and
drive towards Isla Verde. At the end of Mcleary street you will see the Ocean Park
soccer field.
- Go left and stay on the road by the beach untill you find windmill sculpture.
- We are at the end of the beach.
